Prefazione/razionale

Many changes have occurred in the management of head and neck cancers in the last years. Contemporary head and neck oncology require a team approach that includes individual experienced in head and neck surgery, radiation oncology, medical oncology, pathologist, radiologist, nuclear medicine, psychologist.
In the last years the reconstructive options has exploded largely due to advances in microvascular surgery. The first major step in head and neck reconstruction came with the development or regional flaps but the ability to transfer well-vascularized tissue from other parts of the body and to restore the vascularization through the anastomosis has allowed the surgeons to choose many reconstructions optimizing functional outcomes.
For these reasons we designed these “hands-on” microsurgery where the participants could improve microsurgical ability in vessels anastomosis on animals and artificial models.
